About BostonHome
BostonHome was built to bring transparency to one of the most opaque parts of city life: renting.
For many people, finding an apartment in Boston means navigating incomplete listings, outdated prices, and a lack of real insight into what it’s actually like to live in a building or neighborhood. BostonHome aims to change that.
The platform combines community-reported rent data, public datasets, and intelligent analysis to surface a clearer picture of the market. Instead of relying only on listing prices, BostonHome focuses on real renter experiences, trends over time, and signals that help people make better decisions.
From neighborhood comparisons to rent trends and transit insights, the goal is simple: make housing decisions more informed, more transparent, and less stressful.
How the data works
BostonHome aggregates multiple sources of information:
- User-submitted rent reports
- Public datasets from the City of Boston and related sources
- Geographic and transit data
- Derived insights generated through analysis
Over time, as more data is contributed, the platform becomes more accurate and more useful for everyone.
Data sources include public Boston datasets and community contributions.
Who built this
BostonHome was created by Rahul Tiwari, a software engineer based in Boston.
The idea came from firsthand experience navigating the rental market and realizing how little reliable, structured information was available to renters. BostonHome is an attempt to bridge that gap using technology, data, and thoughtful design.
Looking ahead
This is just the beginning.
Future versions of BostonHome will expand into:
- Deeper rent trend forecasting
- More detailed building insights
- Smarter comparison tools
- Personalized recommendations
The long-term vision is to build a trusted, data-driven layer on top of the housing market that empowers renters with better information.
